In June 2010, Mercedes-Benz teamed up with the China Youth Development Foundation to formally launch the Mercedes-Benz Happy Music Classroom programme with the theme “Inspiring the Future”. Over the past four years, the programme has brought the sound of music into 400 classrooms in 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across China. The programme also created eight ‘Star Bases’, training 400 music teachers and sending out over 600 music education volunteers. So far, Happy Music Classroom has provided equal access to musical education for over 160,000 disadvantaged children.
To celebrate the project’s achievements, Pico activated the “Live Your Dreams – The Second Mercedes-Benz Happy Music Classroom Music Gala”, jointly presented by Mercedes-Benz and the China Youth Development Foundation at the Beijing National Aquatics Centre, also known as the Water Cube, on 30 May 2014. Over 600 outstanding students from 400 primary and rural schools attended the gala and showcased their musical talents to thousands of guests.
The event coincided with International Children’s Day and also featured a drum competition, songs, dancing and other diverse performances by primary school students from around the country.
