The Challenge

Our challenge for this event was to facilitate Ocean Nuclear’s first event held in the UK as host of the Global Nuclear Investment Summit. The primary aim was to solidify the client’s presence in the UK market by delivering a high-class, professional and secure event. It was also important to allow and encourage media exposure, while at the same time giving due consideration to the potential complications of running an event focusing on nuclear energy, an often-controversial subject.

The Solution

The event was held in the Guildhall, a Grade 1-listed building which was used for the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations in 2016. This striking venue gave the client a truly regal setting for the summit and allowed them to create VIP experiences, including an exclusive VIP dinner. All guests were pre-screened to mitigate the risks of admitting protestors and a specialist security team was hired by Pico for the day.

During the event, Ben Bland, BBC presenter and correspondent, acted as the Master of Ceremonies. A creative engineering team also provided a number of technological solutions for the event, including an LED presentation screen, while a commercial content agency ensured that the event was captured on camera in its entirety.

Results

  • Over 270 VIPs, media guests and general delegates attended
  • Exposure for the summit was provided by the Financial Times who shared event highlights with their 27,900 followers on their @FTlive Twitter account
